MORE WAR ECONOMY.
"BUTCHER.--Wanted, Second Hand."--_Manchester Evening News_. * * * * * "Southport. Mrs. ----, Homely Apts.; sea view; piano: mod."--_Daily Paper_. We approve Mrs. ----'s candour about the piano, which accords with our own experience in seaside boarding-houses. * * * * * "Germany recently began calling up Class 19120."--_Western Mail_. The end of the War may be in sight, but it still seems to be some distance off. * * * * * "In districts where a number of shops were serving the same people and streets, they would be asked to co-operate so that butcher, baker and grocer would use the same vans. Traders who refused to comply with the scheme would be dealt with."--_Evening Paper_. But surely such unpatriotic shopkeepers should not be dealt with. * * * * * |
