EARLIEST AUTOGRAPH OF WASHINGTON On a fly-leaf of the volume to which this title belongs is written, "This autograph of Genl. Washington's name is believed to be the earliest specimen of his writing, when he was probably not more than 8 or 9 years of age." This is a note by G.C. Washington, to whom Washington's library descended. Original in the possession of the Boston Athenaeum.
