_Ordered_, That, owing to the death of President James A. Garfield, this Department be closed for all public business until after the funeral party shall have left Washington for Ohio. RICHD. A. [From official records, Post-Office Department.] POST-OFFICE DEPARTMENT, _Washington, D.C., September 24, 1881._ _Ordered_, That, in conformity with the action of other executive branches of the Government, this Department be closed on Monday next, the 26th instant, and that the day be fittingly observed by all persons connected therewith as the occasion of the consignment to their final resting place of the remains of the late beloved and honored Chief Magistrate of the United States, James A.
