These _Edomites_ carry to all places their Arts and Sciences; amongst which were their Navigation, Astronomy, and Letters; for in _Idumæa_ they had Constellations and Letters before the days of _Job_, who mentions them: and there _Moses_ learnt to write the Law in a book. These _Edomites_ who fled to the _Mediterranean_, translating the word _Erythræa_ into that of _PhÅnicia_, give the name of _PhÅnicians_ to themselves, and that of _PhÅnicia_ to all the sea-coasts of _Palestine_ from _Azoth_ to _Zidon_. And hence came the tradition of the _Persians_, and of the _PhÅnicians_ themselves, mentioned |
