They go down to the Navy Yard and over to the Monument Grounds.
Sometimes they go over to Boston Common and the Public Garden. Once they walked all the way to Franklin Park. And in the summer they often walk down to Crescent Beach. They say when I get well, I can go with them.â Dicky spoke in the wistful tone with which he always related the deeds of stronger children. Maida knew exactly how he feltâshe had been torn by the same hopes and despairs. âOh, wouldnât it be grand to be able to do just anything?â she said. âIâm just beginning to feel as if I could do some of the things Iâve always wanted to do.â âIâm going to do them all, sometime,â Dicky prophesied. âDoc OâBrien says so.â âI think Rosie the beautifullest little girl,â Maida said. âI wish sheâd come into the shop so that I could get acquainted with her.â âOh, sheâll come in sometime. You see the W.M.N.T. is meeting now and weâre all pretty busy. Sheâs the only girl in it.â âThe W.M.N.T.,â Maida repeated. âWhat does that mean?â âI canât tell?â Dicky said regretfully. âItâs the name of our club.
