âAs a cadet in the Navy, do you mean?â asked Mr. Farnum. âWhy, that would have been well enough,â assented Jack, âbefore I had such a chance in your submarine service. No; I mean Iâd like to see Annapolis. Iâd like to watch the midshipmen at their training, and see the whole naval life there.â âItâs too bad every fellow canât have his wish gratified as easily,â continued Jacob Farnum. âDo you mean weâre going to Annapolis, too?â asked Jack Benson, his eyes glowing. Even Hal Hastings sat up straighter in his chair, watching the shipbuilderâs face closely. âYes,â nodded Jacob Farnum. âPermission has been granted for me to send our second boat, the âFarnum,â along with the âPollardââboth under the care of theââ âThe Dad boat,â laughed Hastings. âYes; that will give us a chance to have the âFarnumâ studied most closely by some of the most capable officers in the United States Navy.
