âCall two or three of the cadets down here. Donât make any noise about it.â This order was called without Bensonâs turning his head. He still stood facing the sneak while Hal sped away. âNow, Iâve got you alone!â gloated Truax. âIâll finish you!â A scornful smile curled Jackâs lips as he gazed steadily back at his foe. âTruax, youâre a coward, as well as a sneak.â âI amâeh?â With another nasty oath Truax stepped quickly forward, the steel bar upraised. He took but one step, however, for Captain Jack Benson had not retreated an inch. Nor did Jack have his hands up in an attitude of guard. âAre you going to put that bar down, Truax?â the young skipper demanded, in a voice that betrayed not a tremor. âNo.â âThen youâll have to make good in a moment, for weâre going to attack you.â |
