"And say, Max, did you take her out again?" asked Bandy-legs, reproachfully. "I did not," answered Max, firmly. He shot a glance toward Steve. That individual seemed to be staring, just as the others were. Max could discover not the faintest indication on his part of amusement. Indeed, he even looked indignant and aroused.
