I think it was a lady who lived here; she'd been good to them, and she came and stood here when they put old John in the ground." "But I want to hear more." "There's no more, I've said; he was a labourer, and after she died he died." "Yes? go on." "How can I go on? There's no more. I knew them so well; they lived in the little thatched cottage over there, where the Millards live now." |
