of the fatal dagger, and in exquisite verse thus addresses it:

"Welcome to thee,/ O sword of eternity!/ Through Buddha/
And through Dharuma alike/ Thou hast cleft thy way."

With a smile upon his face Rikiu passed forth into the unknown.
