Slid to its place, he bending over it,--

The squeaky little voice drawled sleepily--
"_Under your old hat, maybe.--Look and see!_"

All carefully the man took off his hat:

He shook his heavy hair, and all in vain
The old white hat--then put it on again:
"Now, tell me, _honest_, Jack, where _did_ you hide

"_Under your hat_" the voice replied.--

You want to show folks where the ribbons at?--
